Has anyone found a fix for this bug? I already have the latest patch installed but I have no clue what causes this. D3D/Glide Wrappers don't make a difference. Nascar 2000 also seems to have the same problem. Could it be DirectInput related? It happens from WinXP onwards.

The game freezes in WinXp if you not hold the Alt key.
Win9x is ok.

Still no clues on what causes this? I tried every single fix in MS ACT 5.x/6.x.

Anyway, just wondering, is it really that annoying? as it kind of looks like a perfect pause feature.
Here's an Autohotkey script that should fix it. Have it running in the background and press both left and right Alt after launching the game.

I tried dgVoodoo instead of Dxwnd and moving the window really solves the issue, though I was unable to go fullscreen afterwards.
