This is a pretty annoying problem because the big reason I wanted a somewhat more powerful XP laptop than my shitty Avaratec 5100 laptop is to run games like this at a better framerate while not having the graphical issues I get on Windows 7. Any ideas? Also, it doesn't matter if I use the original unupdated version or if I patch it to 1.2, as it always just quietly closes after showing the Microsoft logo FMV. My release is also the 2-CD Atari one. Thanks.

Actually, all I had to do is to install SATA drivers for my hard drive on Windows XP and now it seems to work fine. Sorry about that.

What do SATA drivers have to do with running a game...?

I don't really know. Something to do with data access? It just worked after doing that and taking it out of IDE compatibility mode in the BIOS, and that's all I can say. Should have checked that before making this thread, but too late now...
