Is there a way to get Heroes Might Magic II Gold run on win98 without CD

I have the DVD version that came with the white special big box 'Complete edition' (all games from I to V).

I want to install and play on win98, but without having to keep the darn DVD in the drive. Heroes4 and 5 has no such problem, runs fine without the disk, but Heroes2 does not... 😢

Tried copying some folders and files over to harddrive, as well as editing the 'disk drive' location in registry, but no luck so far.
It still cries foul over missing 'CD'.

Any tips ? Or what to exactly google for ?

I assume the gog version is DOS only, and requires winXP.

I don't have the GOG version but IIRC, the GOG version includes the DOS and Windows versions.

For DOS you can use DOSBox which works on 95+ or you can probably run that version in real DOS.

There is a NOCD for the retail HOMM2 but I believe HOMM2 has CD audio or image the disk and use Daemon Tools.

I see. Was hoping to use the real version in native win98, but...
Don't seem to be able to find any working NOCD for the _Gold_ version, or I am not looking in the right places. Oh well, I'll endure the disc swapping for now then... 🤣
