According to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Reah:_Face_the_Unknown this game support surround sound (through Qsound 3d i presume, judging by qmdx.dll), but i can't get it to work with my setup (5.1 speakers, windows 10, sb x-fi, Reah DVD version from GoG). I even tried Creative Alchemy and this method https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:Sound_card#A3D - no avail.

Some kind of proof about surround sound (excerpt from DVD cover)

Qsound is not an API, it's more like an audio engine, I believe. It does not automatically mean 5 discrete audio channels (more often it does not mean that at all: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/QSound )

If the game does support discrete surround channels then it'll do it through either OpenAL or DirectSound in Windows environment, for which you've already tried Alchemy and didn't get anything so most likely there's no discrete channels in this game, more like "surround effects" by means of HTRF or something like that.

Thanks for explanation.

Ok, i'm stupid/inattentive - there IS surround sound positioning (just not in usual way, like voices from central speaker etc), you just need to proceed a little further in the game. Without any Alchemy or other magic. upd - nope, Creative Alchemy need to be enabled in Win10 or no surround sound!
