Just installed GOG Expendable on my W10 sys and it works great except it won't benchmark using the "go.exe" -timedemo option.
Tried copying the install to my Win98 sys and it also worked fine but again wasn't able to run the timedemo. Guess maybe GOG
broke it somehow?

I suspect they had to modify executables, because vanilla Expendable can't run on NT 6.x OS with modern hardware beyond menu screen.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Vanilla Expendable run on Win2K/XP if you patched out the CPU tests or use the command line "-nocputest". This was how I checked it out on Win2K/XP VMs, should be the same on real machine. Unfortunately, GO.EXE has bugs that it can only take 1 argument on the command-line, so we can't put together "-nocputest -timedemo". Only one of them will take effect, so it either took the timedemo mode and crashed during CPU tests or skip CPU tests and run as regular game.

So the easiest way is to patch the GO.EXE to always skip CPU tests and it can run as regular game or in benchmark timedemo mode. I guess GOG version probably patched everything out to ignore the command line together with skipping CPU tests.

No big deal, can probably use MSI afterburner to get the fps. Thanks for the comments!
