I need help with this device, a USB adapter for Rj45 LAN - Chipset Rd9700.
Unfortunately, the drivers provided on the CD are not accepted by Windows 98SE. The device is detected and the installation drivers are requested.
I attach photos for more information.
Image 01 is the product.
Image 02 shows that Windows 98
Image 03 shows that the drivers in the Windows 98 folder on the CD are not accepted. In fact it turns out:
Cannot find a driver for this device.
Click Next to not install a driver now.
Click Back to search again.
Image 04 shows the attempt to install the drivers manually. Right-clicking on Net8150.ini and selecting "install" displays an error message:
A peripheral connected to the system is not working.
I also attach the entire folder of the CD: https://drive.google.com/file/d/104P20DzvQYdD … iew?usp=sharing
Solutions?
A thousand thanks. I await news.

It looks like you are trying to install Realtek Drivers (RTL8152 folder).
Your Disc contains Drivers for different products. You have to use the drivers in the "RD9700Driver" folder.

Maybe this device is too new and is only supported from XP (or later) onwards if there are no drivers.

Check VID and PID of this device in a more modern operating system. If it is 0fe6:9700 then this driver may be suitable https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php … driverid=839283

It is only a assumption based on this page https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/Moin … anAdapters.html
Devices with 9700 PID are using dm9601 driver. However, you may need to edit the inf file.

The drivers were installed, but he also asked me for the Windows 98 CD.
However the device does not work, it says that it is impossible to load the drivers for this device with the NDIS.VXD device loader, NTKERN.VXD.
The device sees it as DM9601 USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter.
BUT I believe there must be RD9700 and not DM9601. The drivers are not yours.
(how do you check the VID and PID?)

In Windows >= 2000 open Device Manager, click right mouse button on device, choose Properties, choose Details, choose Hardware ID.
You should see something like USB\VID_1234&PID_5678

There is no option ... If I do properties of the device, I find only General and Driver.

Like this: https://www.howtogeek.com/193798/how-to-find- … device-manager/

This option is not available in Windows 9x. You need newer version of windows.
In linux you can use lsusb in console to check hardware IDs of devices connected to USB ports.

So I did, reinstall driver, in the list of network devices, I clicked on the "Have Disk" option.
I went to the drivers folder, and it saw me and recognized, this time, the RD9700. I selected it, but when I pressed OK, the following message appeared:
Cannot find hardware information in the specified location.
The problem appeared on the drivers you made me download.
I tried the ones from the CD and started installing them. After a while though:
Unable to install Realtek RTL8150 USB 10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter.
Error code 1F6.
Then Windows restart. And the device is installed but disabled.
I enabled the device and restarted the PC.
Yellow exclamation point: The device is not present, is malfunctioning, or not all required drivers are installed. (code10)
Isn't it that the first drivers conflict?

This is not Realtek. Your adapter is based on chip made by "Corechip Semiconductor, Inc.".
Try driver from this page: https://oemdrivers.com/network-qts1081b-usb-t … net-lan-adapter

...well, I suppose manufacturer doesn't care much about Windows 98 drivers (these days).

Try driver from this page: https://oemdrivers.com/network-qts1081b-usb-t … net-lan-adapter

I have installed these drivers. But it doesn't seem to work.
Then with the update function, I manually went to look for them in the list.
Nothing is found under the Manufacturer name: Corechip Semiconductor, Inc.
The only ones I find are the manufacturers: Crystal Semiconductor and Davicom Semiconductor, Inc.
Nothing under the name of Corechip Semiconductor, Inc.
Going to:

C: \ Program Files \ InstallShield Installation Information \ {8F1A2017-DF3D-44D3-BE79-C616CF5946D3} I find the driver installation program.

In the setup.ini file I find:

[Startup]
EnableLangDlg=Y
AppName=RD9700 USB Ethernet Adapter
ProductGUID=8F1A2017-DF3D-44D3-BE79-C616CF5946D3

count=3
key0=0x0009
key1=0x0804
key2=0x0404
RequireExactLangMatch=0x0804,0x0404

In the list of manufacturers it should appear:
Corechip Semiconductor and the driver to be installed with the name of RD9700 USB Ethernet Adapter
BUT this does not appear in the list.
According to these two sites, this company has no drivers for this device, much less for windows 98. Are you sure the name you gave me is from the right manufacturer?

The IDs provided are:

USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700
and not:
USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700

This does not match: USB \ VID_0FE6 & PID_9700 & REV_0101

I solved it by plugging the device on windows 10.
ID Hardware:
USB\VID_0FE6&PID_9700&REV_0101
USB\VID_0FE6&PID_9700
ID Compatible:
USB\Class_00&SubClass_00&Prot_00
USB\Class_00&SubClass_00
USB\Class_00

Well. Manufacturer name doesn't really matter. Those IDs above are hardcoded in your USB device. You should search for driver based on those IDs.
However it may be hard to find these days. You should look for earliest version available.

In the meantime:
1. I've installed Windows 98 in Virtualbox, installed driver (found before) which claims to be Windows 98 compatible,
2. found driver files in c:\windows\temp\{guid}\{guid}\Win32.
3. BUT in RD9700.inf file there are no sections for Windows 9x - only for Windows NT 5 and above.

So, assuming that this driver is indeed compatible with Windows 98, I added a Windows 9x section to it (based on the DM9601 driver I linked in my first post).
I have no idea if this will work, but you can try it. The original unmodified file is RD9700.inf.orig (to compare what was added).
Maybe someone more experienced in driver modding can take a look at it.

Same problem. Same error message

I tried this:
https://download.cnet.com/Realtek-RTL8150-USB … 2_4-186650.html
I installed the driver with the Setup program, but on reboot, the problem remained, then I went to the list where the Realtek Manufacturer was, but the newly installed drivers were not in the list. So I told him to go and get them, manually in the windows 98 folder, always the .ini file. I installed everything without problems, restarted ...
https://postimg.cc/gallery/BFKcgzy
The thing that I noticed different, however, is that the red light inside it turned on. But the PC crashes.

Maybe I understand the driver problem on the CD.
You should be missing some correct information for installing the drivers.
Looking at the files I shared, on the CD, in the folder:

CD USB LAN Driver \ RTL8152 \ RTL8150 \ Windows98 and WinMe Driver \ 0001-RTLUSBNT.125_98_EM \ RTLUSBNT.125_98_EM

we find two folders, one for Win98 and one for WinME.
I noticed that when I installed the other drivers, during the installation process, it asked me for the files that are on the Windows98 installation CD.
The drivers present in the CD do not require these files, perhaps for this reason, the installation was interrupted giving an error and it appears that the device has not been installed correctly.
I tried, again from the manufacturer's CD, he installed the ones for WindowsME and he installed them without problems, and here he asked for the famous additional files that are in the Win98 CD.
Obviously, on restart, blue screen.
The drivers are obviously incorrect.
Can you see if anything is missing from the Win98 driver instructions?

Forget the Realtek drivers. Your device does not have Realtek chips. So no Realtek drivers will work like i said in the second post.

On the box it says, support from Windows 98 onwards. I don't understand....

Chinese manufacturers often print stuff on boxes that is simply not true...

AFAIK RD9700 doesn't have drivers for Win9x, but the boxes of those cheap adapters tend to claim that they can support Win9x, which is not true.

Not sure about Realtek ones. I had such adapters before, but couldn't find working Win9x drivers for those.

You may consider looking for adapters from proper brands that use ASIX AX88772 which does have Win9x drivers, and are usually of better quality.
