On Windows 7 64 bits, every Install Shield app or game that I'm attempting to install just hangs at 99% using their original 16 bits installer under winevdm or won't appear at all using the 32 bits installer replacements. I tried using isfixload.exe for otvdm but it didn't help either. Anything else I could try?
I usually had a Wait Chain associated with a IS setup that I had to close from Task manager

It's usually some other process that causes it. In my case it was CoreFTP server which I had running for some obsolete legacy reason.
You can terminate non-MS processes one by one until the InstallShield is 'released'.

Turns out it was iusb3mon.exe. After closing it, both 16 and 32 bits installers started working again. That's really odd, because I had it for ages (since 2017) and it had never caused issues with InstallShield before.
