I have VMWare Workstation, but when I went to boot one of them, it gets a blue screen of death (even when using hard drive's IDE).

Did you import an existing VM or did you install the OS on the VM yourself?
Chances are the versions of the VM type don't match.

I have Windows XP and 98 VMs (used VMWare Workstation 12.0 hardware), but I got a same problem named PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA so it's impossible to boot and play virutal machines.
Are there ways to fix it?
