There has been very little activity but if you go back to 2017 or earlier lots of activity up the wasu. It seems Windows emulation scene is just not active anymore. PCEMv17 seemed 2 be the last milestone and their forums are practically dead too unless you go to way older topics. Need help on anything you will get a few crickets chirping at best these days........oh wait that may be the smoke alarm. CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRP! (60sec pause) Chhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii (Smashes it) .............................. Just kidding!!!

Yes. Because.. Back then there generally was more activity in this regard? 🤷‍♂️

Too many other distractions both serious and leisure
Products are stable and support most features
Lots of shitheads out there causing people to drop off of "social media"
Projects more typically have their own forums or issue trackers

Never witnessed that firsthand, but from what I have read it seems to be a heated argument between PCem and 86Box (a fork), and some of them were insults. It caused the original author to step down and temporarily close the PCem forum. 😒

If anything, PCem is now under a new maintainer.

IIRC, most of the current activity in this section seems to be related to UniPCemu whose author asks for technical information about hardware.

You can't deny it's improved a lot since the early days (where it couldn't even boot MS-DOS, let alone Windows NT 4.0 as it does now on Pentium II with all hardware features (except FPU/MMX)). Lots of things that might not be 100% documented. Afaik wrt accuracy might be one of the most accurate ones (though at the cost of some speed because it's still heavy processing it).

The proper threads on PCem forum that actually pertain to it, and where other members know something about the subject, get replies.

Random threads about vmware and archive.org do not belong there.

If a product is stable and bugfree, then you would expect little discussion about it.

(Would you prefer the FileZilla way, where the product is updated and has to be reinstalled every week?)

Is this too much voodoo?

That reminds me of an old saying.
The cheaper* the product, the worse the users.

(*In price, but the other interpretation also makes sense.)
