I may be wrong with some chipsets or dates, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
I know that the first 'sound cards' posted are not sound cards, but they are wannabe's 🤣 😜

thanks alfa!
i think it would be nice if dosbox could emulate awe32 (with original wavetable)
my integrated soundcard has no midi capabilities, win uses ms synth
and that roland samples aren't the same thing of a good old awe32....

maybe even a sf2 support would help, there is an utility around that dumps
awe rom, so I could retrieve the old wavetable, mount in dosbox, select
awe32 in game music setup and...enjoy!

To be honest, the AWE32 isn't that good, I would prefer AdLib Gold / SB16 or Roland depending on the game 😀

🙁 I only use DOSBox, to be honest it is the only forum that I follow in here. I almost thought some moderator didn't like my post.

I posted in DOSBox development because I thought it could help other people config their game sounds based on the game year, and mostly because I was willing to add links later about how to program for those cards, wich could help further development in compatibility with those cards.

Well I can always make another one, a little bit more elaborate with the technical data about those cards, and how to code for them, wich migth help in reverse engineering 😀

AWE32 sf2 can be found on the net...dunno how legal it is. I always have it loaded in bank B on my audigy 😁. Sure it's not the best wavetable, but it brings back many memories (I owned Awe32 when all my friends had sb16...it was like day and night) 😁
