That might be the cause of it. Unknown command buffer elements are logged. That might be why it crashes.

Will do.

It wasn't the logging. Named pipe comms do produce gibberish on the Sandy Bridge based machine and I don't know why. It happens randomly on my dev machine as well.

i mean i have cart racing working on 2 cores slowed down to 1,5GHz with integrated graphics (no idea why it didn't work before)
(i thought that was cause of different .uc but it wasn't)

it looks the problem to test cart racing is you have to press alt-tab to refocus and we know alt is buggy

cart racing only works fast for me (with 2 cores and integrated graphics) when i have focus set to dosbox-rendition while fullscreen plays in the background.
when i refocus to fullscreen it is slow again
