I'm having trouble installing the Total 3D drivers on Windows 11. My W98 VM is down. The exe can't be unzipped directly. I can run it, but I'm not sure where the files will go because it's running under otvdm (I think).

Oh ok. The game runs with Canopus drivers without the wrapper if you have those 3 files in system32.

System folder but yes.

The linked files do the exact same thing as the others. Same error, game runs perfectly. I haven't had a chance to try to clean the drivers yet though.

This should run on a V1000 without the error:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!As-dKk-N73dSmE8_XmHL55en8nRA?e=GUQwwB
MD5: c98f4e55a5bc34c7292ee17f0c00fc39

If this works, I'll update the binary in the other thread.

Do you get the corruption on exit even with the wrapper?

Uninstalled the Canopus drivers, removed remaining files from system folder (device was already removed from device manager from Canopus driver uninstall) and installed Canopus drivers only. Game refuses to launch with stock dlls in the game folder. Your new files do indeed not show the error popup anymore, game runs exactly as it has been. There is no corruption on closing, that was only happening when installing the game's included device drivers.

Actually, after cleaning the files, replacing those three files into the system folder still doesn't allow stock F1 to load. Must be something else it needs as well.

Yeah F1 definitely wants files from the rredline folder in the system folder to run (without wrapper). I know that not all of them were put in the system folder from when I cleaned it out, like the .nms files. The missing files that are not included in my driver package are display.drv, v1000.dll, v10002d.uc, v100032.dll, v10003d.uc, verite.drv, verite.vxd, veritex.dll, and winspd3d.uc. Putting those in the system folder lets the game run with no problems, no corruption on close.

Excellent find! Maybe this will work on a V2000 as well.

Ok, so I was deleting those mentioned files one at a time to see which ones the game actually needs, and it turns out that most are unnecessary. It only needs display.drv, v10003d.uc, verite.vxd, and winspd3d.uc in the system folder and runs just fine.

Edit: winspd3d.uc is actually not needed either.

I think V10003d. Uc is the only file you need.

I take it you have the F1 driver dlls in the game folder.

I guess I can get away with display.drv gone. When I tried that before, the system hard reset when launching the game. Now it's fine (???). Verite.vxd is still needed though. So really it's just verite.vxd and v10003d.uc.

The game folder contains redline.dll and verite.dll.

I think most V2000 boards come with verite. Vxd. Would be interesting to see if just slapping the F1 rredline dll pair into the game folder and v10003d.Uc into system allows games to run on a V2000.

I configured bios so that all assignable devices listed irq 7 (smbus, usb, usb, sata, sata, sata, ide, net, sound, sound, gfx), only firewire got NA.
But in windows 11 in device manager all irqs were unchanged.
So you can have different irqs for devices in dos and windows (at least win11)
