SUMMARY:
Windows NT/2K/XP's default MSCDEX emulation is extremely basic and does not support many functions that DOS programs require, resulting in program failures or other anomalies. SAPUCDEX is an MSCDEXNT replacement that restores the functionality of the old DOS MSCDEX.

SYMPTOMS:
CD audio will not be played.

CAUSE:
This is caused by the fact that Windows NT's MSCDEX emulator does not route CD commands to Windows.

RESOLUTION:
Use the attached program to run the game or application. It will route the correct DOS MSCDEX commands from the game to Windows' sound system.

SYMPTOMS:
Program will quit with an error that MSCDEX is too old.

CAUSE:
This is caused by the default MSCDEX emulation identifying itself with a fake version number (2.21).

RESOLUTION:
Use the attached program to run the game or application. It uses the version identification of the final release of MSCDEX (2.23).

SYMPTOMS:
CD Installer will quit when attempting to transfer files.

CAUSE:
Unimplemented direct CD read functions in Windows NT's MSCDEX.

RESOLUTION:
Use the attached program to run the game or application. It implements missing CD read commands.

SUPPORTED GAMES:
All CD-ROM games
