I don't know if it's really the right place to ask, but how does the good ol' MT-32 function? Do you have to own a special Roland ISA sound card to control the external MT-32 synthesizer or do just connect the external synthesizer to the midi interface of your soundblaster? Well, perhaps someone could enlighten me even if this isn't exactly an emulator-related question.

MT-32 connects to a standard MPU-401-compatible MIDI interface, like the one you have on your sound card. No special hardware needed. Except the MT-32, of course. 😀

Yes, it’s my fault.

Thanks, but now I fear there is nothing left to keep me from wasting 40$ for an old MT-32. (To connect it to my 486/66 which I built in the case of our very first computer, a 286 bought in 1987 for around 4000$ (!))
