I never found you needed drivers for it, it's hardware midi so it "just works" as long as you select the mpu401 address for midi-out.

I think all that it came with was some MIDI sequencer app. Like Ratfink says, no drivers are needed just an MPU-401 interface and software that uses it.

Just dug out my db50xg box [I don't have the cd though]. The bonus cd is described as including 20 songs, 60 XG MIDI clips and a demo version of Yamaha's "visual arranger".

The files mentioned in the "RESET FILES FOR ANY SEQUENCER" section of the readme on that web site can be found *somewhere* on Yamaha's web site, but I forget extactly where. It used to be at http://www.yamaha.co.uk/xg/html/software , but unfortunately that's long-since-gone. They included MIDI files with embedded sysex dumps to reset any XG hardware to XG/GS/GM, as well as MT-32 (re)mapping.

Also, the "MIDI CLips" are a select few of the "Yamaha XG Free Song Data Library" that disappeared several years ago (used to be at http://www.yamaha-xg.com/english/xg ).

I have the CD... there isn't much to care about on the disc other than the "reset" files that lets you change output modes... disc just has a bunch of songs, midi samples, and a demo version of visual arranger

P.S. After spending a bit of time with the songs, I've found that "A Dream Of A Dream.mid" is *especially* nice 😀

Note that this song (as well as "XGWorks.mid" and "XGWorksV2.mid") were *not* included with any other "official" Yamaha XG music packs.

BTW, "XGWorks.mid" has an **extremely** cool hard rock guitar solo at around 3:00 minutes into the song... really shows off the power of the XG effects processors 😀
