Hi

I recently purchased a Yamaha DB50XG MIDI daughter board. It came with the manual but no CD ROM that contains the drivers/software. So does anyone have the CD ROM that is needed? Or point me in the right direction to it? Thanks for your time.

Cheers

Just dug out my db50xg box [I don't have the cd though]. The bonus cd is described as including 20 songs, 60 XG MIDI clips and a demo version of Yamaha's "visual arranger".

BTW, the songs and clips you can find here -> http://crydee.sai.msu.ru/public/XG/songs/db50xg 😀

The files mentioned in the "RESET FILES FOR ANY SEQUENCER" section of the readme on that web site can be found *somewhere* on Yamaha's web site, but I forget extactly where. It used to be at http://www.yamaha.co.uk/xg/html/software , but unfortunately that's long-since-gone. They included MIDI files with embedded sysex dumps to reset any XG hardware to XG/GS/GM, as well as MT-32 (re)mapping.

Also, the "MIDI CLips" are a select few of the "Yamaha XG Free Song Data Library" that disappeared several years ago (used to be at http://www.yamaha-xg.com/english/xg ).

A good site for DB50XG files and such:

http://www.megatrade.ru/English/Basic.html
http://www.megatrade.ru/English/Yamaha.html
http://www.megatrade.ru/English/db50faq.html

...and the manual in PDF format:

I have the CD... there isn't much to care about on the disc other than the "reset" files that lets you change output modes... disc just has a bunch of songs, midi samples, and a demo version of visual arranger

BTW, I found a working download link for the resets; from this page -> http://www.megatrade.ru/English/Yamaha_Support.html , right here -> http://www.megatrade.ru/Updates/resets.exe 😀

I just uploaded this smallish pack of XG songs -> Yamaha_XGWorks_Songs.zip .

Most of the MIDI files in the pack are already included in some of the other XG MIDI packs that I've previously uploaded, but there are a few new ones in this pack that sound rather nice ("A Dream Of A Dream.mid", "XGWorks.mid", and "XGWorksV2.mid") 😀

(re: "Yamaha_XGWorks_Songs.zip")

P.S. After spending a bit of time with the songs, I've found that "A Dream Of A Dream.mid" is *especially* nice 😀

Note that this song (as well as "XGWorks.mid" and "XGWorksV2.mid") were *not* included with any other "official" Yamaha XG music packs.

BTW, "XGWorks.mid" has an **extremely** cool hard rock guitar solo at around 3:00 minutes into the song... really shows off the power of the XG effects processors 😀

I know this is quite old, however I just got a DB50XG board and would like these files! Any chance for an update? Thanks!

I went through a web server URL change earlier this year... still haven't got the whole mess sorted out <grin>.

Nevertheless, all of the files above can be found in this directory on the new server -> http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/sno … eeds/Yamaha_XG/ .

e.g.

Anything that used to be this:

...is now this:

😀
