A while back, wasn't there a multimedia kit that had a cd-rom, and soundcard/mpeg accelerator board? I think Creative might have made it, not sure. Even if I could find one, doubt it would be affordable, as I imagine they're rare.

I think the earliest PC MPEG hardware decoder was the ReelMagic, it was an ISA card.
There were some games released with versions specifically designed for it - notably Return to Zork. I have a ReelMagic card but I don't have any of the games 🙁

I need to make a VESA feature connector cable, which I haven't gotten around to yet, so I'm unable to test it with movie files.

I changed the thread title on that to make it more general now. There was some chat in there about the MPEG 1 cards anyway as you noted.
