I got lucky at the local recycle center today and thought I'd share my finds here.

First up is a 486dx2 66 - quite a cool old case and still complete, sporting DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11! It booted up first try. Lots of games and period software included for the price of entry (all this stuff was free, they scrap stuff this old).

Next a very retro looking beast with a 486dx33 in it. Nothing fancy, just an ISA board, but I like the tseng et4000ax "2 the MAX". I might have a job for that.

And finally the real score (for me) was this rather plain looking AT desktop case with a flip-top lid - it's almost identical to the one my first PC came with, I've been looking for one for ages. This one has a turbo button + LED display, and the luxury of a power button on the front (as apposed to the rocker switch on the side mine had), but otherwise it's the same. Heaps of room inside; basically just an empty box with a PSU and a lid.

It has a 386dx40 in it currently, the barrel battery has started to leak but it doesn't look too bad, hopefully it can be saved. I've never had a 386 and I'd like to build one. This case though will be cleaned up and fitted with a 486sx33 VLB, like my first love.

Nice findings!!

WTF the harddrive is still in that 80386!
Maybe there is data on it also..

Otherwise hook it in a other system, with harddrive recover software, and see what you can rescue!

~ At least it can do black and white~

Yes that 386 HDD (all 85mb's of it) has quite a few games, DOS, and Windows 3.1 on it. There are a couple of war sims, Sid Meier's Civilization, Trump Castle 3 (never heard of it), Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Keen, Lemmings, etc.

And also there's a game with the ridiculous title of "Battletech: the crescent hawks' revenge", which apparently is a precursor to Dune2. Sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out.
