Also the original command & conquer seems to crash when launching the DOS4G at startup, any ideas?

I have managed to fix this must have been a memory issue i installed and used QEMM 97 to optimise my system gaining 52K of conventional memory and Command & Conquer now runs. Although it may also have been because of EMS which is now enabled on the system.

WOOO! I managed to get the cdrom working i switched from the IBM driver to the generic oak cdrom driver works perfectly now. 😀

oh and i did just find out the cdrom is using Programmed I/O transfer mode

If you just want to get networking, you might be better served with a PCMCIA 3Com 3C574. The 3C574 Windows 3.11 drivers have their own PCMCIA enabling trick that works well on every laptop I've tried so far. When you get the card you can download the drivers from here: http://web.archive.org/web/20080512021806/htt … s/nic/3c574.htm

Warnings:
- There are several different 3Com dongles with the same connector, you need to get the right one with/for the 3C574, connecting the wrong dongle did not damage my card
- My 3C574 does not work with my 10/100/1000 mbps ethernet switch, it does work with my 10/100 equipment
- PCMCIA is (a lot) slower than Cardbus, but the performance is still quite acceptable on my systems (couple of MB/s)

I used to own a 760ED as well as a 760XD. In my experience, the implementation of cardbus is somewhat flakey. Also, Cardbus has to specifically be enabled in the ThinkPad setup application.

Thanks for the advice ill look into buying one as having networking would be great for some old school multiplayer action haha

If you want wireless networking on that laptop look for Orinoco Gold Classic or Dell Truemobile 1150 cards, these work under DOS 😉

Wifi well i already got a 3COM ethernet card which works ok, not perfect but good enough.

if you want to get DMA mode working in DOS/Win3.1, try using the Triones drivers
for other hardware, you will need to google for the original IBM drivers... Lenovo's website sucks and they got rid of many downloads for IBM's models... you can try there first though!
