I just bought a gameport/joystick to midi cable from ebay like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4ft-Joystick-DSUB-D … =item41612de0c0 and I cant get anything out my MT-32 and SC-55mkII boxes using it with my old sound cards.

I have tried a old SB16, a AWE 64 Gold and a Diamond Monster Sound MX300. Until recently I had been using the midi boxes connected to my Windows 7 pc via a Roland UM-ONE USB MIDI interface and they both boxes worked great.

Anyone have any suggestions what I could try?

Thanks

What operating system are you using?
Are you sure your sound card's MIDI port is configured correctly and the games are configured to use its IO address?

Are you plugging the OUT plug of the cable into the IN socket on the MT32/SC55? This is how it should be plugged in.

Thanks king. I was just selecting the mpu401 port under windows 98 SE multimedia control panel and trying to play a .mid file. I just started reinstalling the OS. I might have the cables around the wrong way I’ll check soon.
