Hi, someone know if is possible to have FM music in Win9x with this card?

VT8233
AC97

I use realtek drivers

For example in Wolfenstein3D, i have sound FX, but no music
In Doom, is i select MPU-401 i get nice music (like in my roland SC-55) and FX. If i select sound blaster like music, nothing, only FX

There is a fix for this? a way to emulate music, or something?

I tried WDW and VXD drivers, same

VDMsound for win98 works, but sloooow, because the processor is a Crusoe 5800 800mhz

Thanks

AC97 is a classic Realtek integrated sound card, it was used until realtek ALC HDA replaced it. It was around Pentium 4 era, so of course it can have FM music

Thanks for reply

I installed both kind of drivers, VXD and WDM, and in DOS (inside windows) i only get sound FX, no music at all

i have the set blaster...etc, and inside a DOS box i can get SB emulation in 220 i5 d1, but no music in games

For example in wolfenstein i get FX (door open, shots..etc) but no music

I tried with realtek drivers and VIA vinyl drivers, same

With VDMsound i get music and FX, but slow

What im doing wrong?

Sorry, this is my first time with integrated audio, i always had PCI or ISA sound cards

Ok, i found the problem reading the VIA AC97 readme

== Sound Blaster Compatible DOS Game Supported ==
=================================================

Sound Blaster compatible DOS games can be played with GENERAL MIDI
music format ONLY in the Windows DOS box. There is no need to enable
the "Sound Blaster" setting in BIOS. The Sound Blaster emulation is
by Microsoft and the OPL3 music format is not supported under the
Microsoft WDM driver architecture.

The user should change the MUSIC setting in his or her Sound Blaster
compatible DOS game from FM MIDI to GENERAL MIDI. Otherwise, the music
playing feature will not be functioning when the Sound Blaster compatible
game is played.

This is the answer to my question, sadly, FM music is not supported by the AC97 soundchip....

Im still looking for some solution to this problem.... (a fastest solution to vdmsound..)
