So I'm trying to use a Diamond Stealth 64 2MB DRAM VLB card with an LCD monitor in 1024x768x16bit in Win98SE, but after trying several different drivers I can't get anything but a scrambled screen and an "out of range" message from the monitor. I suspect it's trying to use 43Hz interlaced mode and my LCD won't accept that....

The drivers either give me no refresh rate options in the Adapter tab or just "Adapter default" and "Optimal"--no way to manually set it to 60, 70 or 75Hz.

Any ideas?

It might be failing to detect the maximum and minimum. You might need a D-Sub adapter with selectable pins. They may be hard to find.

Problem solved!

I changed the monitor driver and was able to force the refresh rate to 60Hz. I guess these old cards don't play well with the PnP monitor driver. Thx for the reply.
