Still no rRedline or S3D wrappers? I dying to play Destruction Derby and SODA Off Road in 3D mode...

Yeah, tell me about it.

I received a very WIP wrapper for ATI 3D CIF once (and permission to share it), but all it is is a framework that logs accesses, and its development has ended.

I've been hoping for a while that we'd see other wrappers developed, but no luck so far. Part of the problem in my opinion was other 3D API SDKs not having shared/leaked as broadly as 3dfx Glide. Hell, Glide even went open source in the end. I did everything I could think of to encourage development. Here's hoping one day...

I hope you're right. I went to their page but found nothing about it.

Do we already have these? Can't check the ftp right now.

Appear to be the same....

Not sure if the above qualifies but a user did modify the direct3d8to9 wrapper

How do you port an emulation and change it into a wrapper? Unless the emulation provides additional insight to what the API is doing... that's about all I can think of.

Nope, thanks for the heads' up.

The second (shawwwn's fork) is based on the first (actboy168's wrapper) but adds additional effects.

Interesting, I had NO idea this was a thing.

Yeah, I usually include hacks like that with a readme to indicate why it was done. Don't think he released his source tweak tho?

Was about to write that off as a per-game hack (attempting to collect less of those) but it seems that it actually isn't. Seems like he started from d3d8-gl and its source?

Rediscovered this thread today: Wrappers Galore!

I'll see if I can get the source for the changes to that one wrapper.

Holy crap! Proof I've been thinking of doing this for ten years...

That would be great, thanks.

Delayed reaction (thought I felt my ears burning)!

This already exists: http://wrappers.vogonsdrivers.com

The root level of your FTP corresponds to that address, feel free to bake your own site. If you need a MySQL or Postgres DB, just shout.

Somehow I missed this. A Wiki would make a really good interface, but you would want to lock it down. Limit accounts and certainly limit who has access to upload. I would recommend that you disable registration and manually add any users. This would completely eliminate spambots. You could setup interwiki links to seamlessly access what is on the FTP without having to upload to the Wiki itself. If you go with MediaWiki, I could help, since that is what I am familiar with. You would need to have SquallStrife setup a database for it. If his hosting service has one of the software installers like Softaculous, he could setup it up very quickly from the cPanel. Otherwise he would need to at least setup a database for the new Wiki.

Yep, they have Softaculous.

But, er, isn't there a VOGONS Wiki already?

I've created a MediaWiki and tweaked the security, but if we can use the existing Wiki, maybe that's better for keeping everything consolidated?

But the Wiki is just for DOSBox. Stiletto is talking about something for the wrapper project. More in the realm of Windows emulation than DOS.

What? www.vogonswiki.com is certainly not just for DOSBox, mostly old hardware.

But you don't need wrappers for old hardware. Almost need a Wiki for Windows emulation.

Yes, I thought that you were referring to Qbix's official Wiki.

Whoa, totally forgot SvensWrapper did a Glide 2.x to OpenGL wrapper compatible with one game, and a DirectDraw to OpenGL wrapper for three games.
http://www.svenswrapper.de/english/other.html

In other news, uploaded some more builds of WineD3D.
Also took apart 10 years' worth of Glidos packages to extract OpenGlide builds, psVoodoo builds, and VDos32 builds (VDos32 being unrelated to the project in this thread). Thought that was a pretty clever move.

uglide
https://www.gog.com/forum/deus_ex_serie ... eusex_goty
http://www.hedgehogeyes.com/uglide.html

uglide (micro-glide) by mar, (c) 2015, 16
v0.13 (alpha)

changes since 0.12:
- preserve texture state between grSstWinClose/grSstWinOpen (fixed POD Gold car textures)
- more alpha blending factors
- POD Gold works now except for second intro image; the game uses another thread to write into LFB
this cannot be emulated with OpenGL because it's single-threaded
the only possibility is to use sw LFB emulation, maybe I'll think about it in the future
- map grTexCombineFunction => guTexCombineFunction
- a couple of bugfixes

changes since 0.11:
- new info font [my own]
- improve performance in DeusEx Aquinas hub
- fix DeusEx saving screen
- optional support for FXAA (see source shaders for info/license)
- optionally select monitor to run on
- much improved emulation

features:
- automatic mipmapping
- dithering for smooth band transitions

requirements:
- OpenGL 2.0 capable GPU with 4 texture units
- Windows XP or later

configuration:
- see uglide.cfg for more information

usage:
just copy these files to <Game>\System directory

many Glide APIs/features aren't supported, only some games were tested:
Unreal Gold, Unreal Tournament GOTY, Deus Ex GOTY, Clive Barker's Undying, Red Guard, POD Gold;
all purchased at GOG.com
also only w buffering is supported

GPU path should run reasonably well (including shaders)
however CPU path (mipmap generation and other processing) remains unoptimized

note: use at your own risk

Boris the creator of ENB has released a basic DX8 to DX9 converter here http://enbdev.com/download_convertor_dx8todx9.htm

Currently seems to only support Mafia and a couple of the GTA games currently, I haven't had a chance to test it.

Thanks for the suggestion Roy, but we added ENBConvertor back around August 2013. We even have v0.0035 which he no longer offers from that page.

...

I guess we're overdue for bringing this public - the collection has been built and only sees small updates these days (barring any major release from Tuxality) - but there's a lot of web development that needs to be done and no time to do it... 😉
