I'm currently trying to back up some older DOS games and Windows 95 / 98 installs on 3.5" floppy disks using an external USB floppy drive I recently purchased. I've been out of the loop for some time - I mostly play old games on CD now - so I don't know what kind of software to use. I used to use WinImage, but I don't know if there are other, better alternative options now. I can run stuff on Windows 7 (or XP via a VM), so that's not a problem, I just need to know what software to use.

Any suggestions? Apologies if this has been answered before.

I still use WinImage actually. There are versions that run on Win7 (I run it on both Win10 and Win95/98). Just create .img files.

However that will not work well with disks for games that have copy protection.

I'm going to emulate old PC games, not play on old hardware... so I posted my question here. Sorry.

I'm fairly sure these games don't have disk-based copy protection anyway, just manual-based stuff. 😀
