Hello there, I just bought a new copy of MK trilogy for PC and I wanted it to play on dosbox (It is a windows 95 and dos CD)

I install the game with no problem

As soon as I enter the audio configure screen, dosbox crash complety. After restarting, I simply mount the image of the CD and go to my directory where mktril is located. It start with a ''univbe test'' that apparently pass and then the game start with a black screen. I can hear the music thought.

Any helps is greatly appreciated

The compatibility list entry for the game has comments that seem to refer to the issue and how to get past it... hard to be sure with the broken English, though... http://www.dosbox.com/comp_list.php?showID=3918

I saw the compabillity list and they talk about the univbe test I told in the past post. Even if the test pass, I am unable to play the game, unlike what the guy said on the compatibility list database

Run setsound.exe and avoid the launcher.
After that...run from the folder you installed into mktril.exe. I just took this shot with DosBox 0.74.

I get the same black screen. I don'T get it, I have the original CD and installed it without problems. Althought this time I can ''play'' the game.

- black screen
- i hear music
- i hear sound
- I can choose character and do stuff but seeing nothing make this game unplayable

Well, for me the installer go blackscreen immeediately.
"XGA: wrote to port 42e8 with 8000, len 2
XGA: wrote to port 42e8 with 4000, len 2"
Then I found the installer don't like memsize>32 Mb. But still the result is freeze after the unpacking (if you try to move the cursor to the play option or if you select "configure sound").
So, the launcher (mksetup.exe) is the can of bugs and glitches...

But the game itself (mktril.exe) is working perfectly. Machine=svga_s3, output=ddraw, memsize=16. Dynamic core with the cycles=max.

changing the memory size fixed 3/4 of the problem. I am now able to see the game itself but there is one remaining annoying thing.

In the menu, when I press right, it scroll right then right away left. (Since its player 1 controlling it)
My character will constantly walk to the left and jump even If I don't press the left button or jump button (THIS ONLY HAPPEN TO PLAYER 1)
as P1, I can only choose Jonny Cage since it constantly go to the left and I can't press up or down

Changing control button or use player 2 button wont work because only player 1 can control the menu

This still make the game unplayable

Change joystick timed...but I kind of recall I never could get it to work with the joystick by default (but I used joytokey...much better anyway, since you can map all buttons instead of only 4)

Why do you have that changed from the default anyways??? Especially if you're tracking problems.

because having a higher memory allowed me to have better performance on other game.

I will try your suggestion bloodbat, Thought I want to play the game with a keybaord

EDIT: in the joystick,

Timed=False seems to have fixed the problem and the control are not screwed anymore.

Thanks to everybody that contribued to solve the problem
