1. Is it the DOS version or the Windows version of Warcraft 2?

2. What are the exact commands you are typing into DOSBox to mount your drives and run the installer?

i have the dos version of warcraft 2, and teh commands i am running are:

mount d d:\ cdrom
dir d
install.exe

here is my setup info incase your wondernig...
d is my cd rom drive
f is a partiotion of my hd
g is a partition of the same hd
x is a seperate hd

you need amount c c:\ as well
else there is not location where you can install to....

Well where do you want to install it? Try this:
mount c f:\
mount d d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
d:
install

When the game asks you where to install, tell it to install somewhere on the C: drive (e.g. c:\war2).

When you go to play the game from then on, use:
mount c f:\
mount d d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
c:
cd war2 (or whatever directory/folder you installed it to on the virtual c: drive)
war2 (or whatever it tells you to use to run the game)

holy crap it worked!!!!! thanks everyone!! ok new question... haha how do i install the expansion set (beyond the dark protal) its the dos version and i have the cd, god it was great to hear the music again!

The same way I think... Just put the CD in, mount using DOSBox and install. Or if you still have DOSbox running with your Warcraft 2 mount settings, switch CDs and use the RESCAN command to have it recognize the new CD (then run the installer).

Don't forget to get the latest patch from blizzard.com or dhl.net.
