It's a manual on how to use dosbox. You can tell it is missing some important info but it is still good advice on using dosbox. To run doom you should follow my advice. use dosbox 0.70 and go into fullscreen by pushing alt, enter now run doom which on my computer i would have to mount d d:/jeff/games/doom
d:
know type doom and go to 9000 cycles by using ctrl f12. I have a 500 mhz machine so the reccomended cycles may be different on your machine.

6 minutes only to get DOOM working? Jeez. Anyone can just start Doom in dosbox 0.70 just by

cd doom
doom

no fooling with config or ctrl-f12ing since protected modes get auto'd core and cycles for maximum performance.

also wtf 500MHz?

heh. Heretic. That was funny.
Why is he not using a port? (I guess just to demonstrate DosBox...although he doesn't mention a port)
Winzip? 🤣. Wonder if he's using the registered ver?
Frame rate is 3000?
He messes up on configuring the sound.

what is wrong with a 500 mhz computer. Whats wrong with using 9000 cycles and dynamic mode to run doom. What is wrong with his sound configurations on doom except he did not use pc speaker.

The year is 2007. The average computer speed is 2500MHz. You figure the rest out.

Should i use the 2.66 ghz machine instead. I made a mistake on my computer configurations i originally thought the 500 mhz computer was 1.3 ghz. 500 mhz still does the job. Especially when you have a good vesa compliant video card.

A grand prix 2 video running in dosbox 0.70. I am surprised on how playable the game is on a 486.

I can go up to a little over 30 thousand cycles is that enough to play quake. You made a mistake setting up doom you did not choose pc speaker.

Edit: I remember playing quake with somewhere around 30 thousand cycles and 10 framskip on dosbox 0.65 and getting playable performance. I did not get sound though. It was a bit slow but it was playing at a more than playable speed. It was playing just like when i originally played quake on a older computer except their was no sound. I was in dynamic mode and all the memory options were on and had 32 megabytes instead of 64 megabytes on.
