Usually as many as will plug in without splitters. 😀
The power supply should have a sticker showing the power ratings for each rail.
Devices like hard drives typically show how many amps they draw as well.
If you're unsure, Athena Power still makes 400w AT PSUs today. 😜
Hi Vogons!
For 486 with a sound card, a 250 mb hard drive, two floppy drives, one 5 1/4 and the other 3 1/2, and a CD-ROM. it's too much?
Very Thanks!
200W is more than enough for that.

The 300W is a "gutless wonder" (at least the one that was taken apart on Tech Tangents), so I wouldn't trust the 400W.

I use their 400w in my Retro Rig.
Definitely overkill for my purpose, but my only complaint is the loud fan.

From the first glance we see that the quality assembly is of ths bloc is correct, but that the components are of poor or very poor quality...
Perhaps a refurbished or well restored AT power supply from the 90's would be more reliable than this new power supply.

Be sure to use a DC-DC based ATX PSU then, or you may end up with weird results
Modern PSU focus on 12V Power. But most Retro PCs need plenty of 5V. (Slot1/A/Sockel A etc)

That's why I bought the Athena, I wanted to be sure there was enough 5v, -5v, and 12v power for the AT motherboard and peripherals.
I'd happily buy an ATX2AT converter, but I don't know where to get one...

Well, there a lot on Amazon, Ebay etc.

I have one of those. I have trouble running it on 586 class computers with a lot of cards.
It is more for 486 and older I gather. But it is super cool and handy.
Ah its not really a Adapter.
This is a circuit breaker basicly.
I run all my Machines with ATX Powersupplys today.
i grabbed few from Dell Vostro Machines (LiteOn / Delta ) with 300Watts.
Just cut down SATA Connectors and added 5,25/3,5" Harddrive/Floppy Power Connectors.
Modern ATX PSU often only deliver 10-15A on 5V.
