System Shock 2 used to work on my system. That was before I upgraded my graphics card to an Nvidia 7900 GS. I have updated to the most recent drivers for this card and still cannot play this game. (My old graphics were from Intel on-board graphics chip). I have installed the patch to make this game compatible for WinXP.

I can now see the intro after installing the latest driver for this card, but then I get the black screen with sound in the background. My error message is as follows:

Error: Direct 3D device driver does not accurately report texture memory usage. Contact your 3D accelerator vendor for updated drivers.

Anyone have any idea what I can do to correct this problem? It seems a shame to lose playing a good game due to a better graphics card. 😢

u have to add something similar to "safe texture manager" to an INI file. Look at that link from DosFreak. Info is there somewhere.
