Hi all!

There is an issue with Soundblaster in DI Tornado. If I go to fly, it seems that the game set back to Adlib. You can hear it on the engine sound like this: https://youtu.be/_35EU234VP4
I found one video where you can hear the SB sound: https://youtu.be/dzpd4lbfOo0?t=83

I wonder about has anyone ever dealt with this problem?

At the moment my config looks so:
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
sbmixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplemu=default
oplrate=44100

Among the configuration parameters at SoundBlaster, if I turn off the OPL emulation to "oplmode=none" or "oplmode=cms" than the game prevent me to go to fly, and put back me to the setup menu and shows this message:

After digging a few hour on forums, it is possible that the 640k memory limit is my problem. There is a file "SBLASTER.BIN" in one of the folders what is 24832 byte. The "ADLIB.BIN" is only 4424 byte.
Any suggest on memory saving?

So, after some more deep searching, I found that the problem is not from the memory side, but some coding issues from the original software, Tornado itself. Here you can find 3 old third party patches for Tornado what solves the problem:

https://web.archive.org/web/20180819164000/ht … rnado/home.html

In the MOD section search for:
- Action 16 Edition SoundBlaster patch
- Soundblaster Autodetect patch
- Generic Tornado Patcher (tpatcher.zip)

In the descriptions of the patches you will find what to do.
Now I have SB quality in the original Tornado 1.0f
