I have a ThinkPad T42 with Windows 98SE and a SoundMAX integrated audio chip. I want to play through Duke 3D again which works fine on the machine except one issue with the sound card. It actually has SB emulation with working audio but it forces all MPU-401 calls to it's own crappy EuCom synth. I was wondering if I could use some sort of a virtual MPU-401 to send these calls to my Yamaha S-YXG100 softsynth. If that's not possible, maybe I could use a DOS VST driver if that exists and do the same thing with a VST version of the S-YXG?
