I just got my first Voodoo card, a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP SDR, running it on my Pentium 3 440BX system, Windows 98SE.
This is a new thing to me (I only ran ATI and SiS cards back in 9x days) so no need to knock me if I ask a seemingly silly question about Voodoo.
I'm using 1.09-beta10 drivers, and with either DirectX 6.1 or 7.0a there is no Direct3D acceleration at all. Is that a problem unique to this driver version or does Voodoo 3 just not do Direct3D at all?
I was trying to run Doom95 at 640x400 (the correct pixel aspect ratio for Doom), however it either fails to change resolution and paints Doom in a messed up palette and width, or if I explicitly change the resolution to 640x400 using PowerStrip it will say that Doom95 is not able to access my video card and not start the game. This game doesn't use Direct3D as far as I know, however it's still a DirectX issue all the same. The game runs fine at 320x200, which is the same pixel aspect ratio, and basically the same video timings as 640x400 (double scan and half the pixel clock), and also works at 640x480 (wrong pixel aspect ratio), but not working at 640x400. It was working fine at 640x400 on GeForce MX4000 I had in the system prior to this.
How do I fix the 640x400 DirectX mode, or add it if it's missing?
