Hi There,
New account,but not new here.
I`m posting this because I need some ideas. OK,so I`m trying to revive an old LASER Expression 486/SX,with DOS 6.22. It has just one IDE controller onboard. I threw in a TEAC CD - ROM,but the IDE cable is just too short. OK,so I bought a Pine Schubert 203X Sound Card,ESS 1868F based, with an IDE Controller. I have installed a drivers for the sound card, used ESSCFG to enable the onboard IDE Controller, installed in CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXCE.BAT the drivers for the CD-ROM (Teac_CDI,universal TEAC), but the drive is just not recognised. I have tried everything I can think of . At the the moment the card is using A220 IRQ 7 DMA1,and the controller A 168. The IDE controller is clearly enabled. What are the differences, driver wise, between connecting the CD-ROM on the sound card or the onboard IDE Controller? I`ve tried every possible combination of adresses, can it conflict with something else?
Help would be appreciated.
