I bought a hp pavilion with a asus spax motherboard installed in it. when I got it it had a amd k6-2 at 300mhz installed but it failed to post. I installed a pentium 200mhz chip and it's been working fine but I want to install a amd k6-2 380mhz to see if that will work. I also flashed a modified bios from an asus sp97-xv that allows for hards drives bigger then 32gb. what jumpers do i need to set in order to use the k6-2?

Core volts is 2.2v like a 300 and 333 AFAIK. FSB would have to be 83Mhz and 4.5X to get 380Mhz. If the 300 did not POST there could be a few reasons...one being that cpu is dead.
the board works at 66Mhz and 3x so I would try 66Mhz and 4.5x with that 380 and see if it boots at 300Mhz....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Still not posting at 300mhz or 380mhz. I also tried a pentium mmx 233 and it did not post aswell. 200mhz pentium still is able to post.

I tested the pentium mmx and amd k6- 2 380mhz in another board and they work fine. Pentium mmx will warm up in the spax when powered on but the 380mhz k6-2 won't get warm at all. The original k6-2 300mhz that I got with the board is dead unfortunately. It won't post in my other board.
