Just found an old unknown PC model with this CPU in it

http://www.cpupages.com/store/index.php?id_item=154

It has some isa riser card which is mounted in one of the ISA slots on the mobo so I guess I can stuff the case with a newer mobo and use that riser card?

Can this ancient PC play any games after 1990?, 🤣

I had a feeling it could coipe with those games but Wolf3D? doesn't that game demand at least a 386?

Nope, definetly runs on a 286. Remember going up to the BX and seeing it run on the latest 386's....."aquiring" a copy from school and installing it on the school's 286's and my home 286-12mhz.

Maybe it's worth then to breathe some life into this PC 😀

Think I have to upload a pic of the mobo so you guys can tell me if it's crap and what memory that goes into the weird looking "simm sockets"

I wish I'd kept my 286. 🙁

Oldest PC I have now is a P166 laptop.

It's crap. 😉

I think SIMM memory goes in SIMM sockets.

It sure is crap....quality looks crap too but back then PC's were crap and Amiga's + Mac's ruled the world

I think it's 30pin simm slots like I have one some of my Amiga memory/scsi cards and my Golden Gate 486 PC emulator card for the Amiga

Since it's 286, I think you need an Expanded Memory Board instead of EMM386, am I correct?

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

Well games can request memory by different means: below-1mb ram,
ems, xms, int15 (bios interface) or by switching to protected mode.

In your case ems will be missing, i'm not aware of a tool similar to emm386
for 286 systems, but you might want to try looking for such a thing.
