P4 2.6GHz/400MHz SL6PP

That should be a good cpu, its on the support list. This board is extremely picky about everything. It can't handle a lot of power to the cpu either because no P4 power connector. I have the exact same board but the ECS P4VMM2 version.

I would recommend reducing the cas latency to 2 in the bios. Mine always had trouble at the 2.5. I used DDR400 Memory, running at 266. (533FSB CPU Here) Also disable any fast write settings.

Reunited with my own ti4800 after gifting it to a friend 14 years ago. I asked it back. Lmao. I am hopeful it still works and that is not actually a SE.
Yes, the heatsinks are horrendous. I was a dumb kid. I will remove them and restore the original look.
Please send advice on how to remove "Arctic Silver™ Thermal Adhesive". Will isoprop soften it?

EDIT: The sticker says clearly ti4800 but it also says A2, presumably NV28GL A2, the variant of the chip that was only used (at least according to techpowerup) on the Quadro.

I bet its a Full Ti-4800, I hope it still works for ya! they are rare 😁. There are A2's in the standard Geforce line.

Just curious why you want to remove the ram heat sinks? I'd keep them on to allow cooler operation and a longer life span.

I got this "Spacewalker" Shuttle MV43PN, which is a PCChips clone. I was specifically looking for a quirky 478 board and it fit the bill with its blue PCB, VIA chipset and options for either DDR or SDRAM.

But I think I have to give up on it. With SDRAM installed it will just freeze once it gets to the OS, if not immediately then within minutes. With DDR it doesn't freeze but executables will often halt stating some kind of "corruption", and when doing something moderately intensive it sometimes suddenly hard resets out of the blue. Looks like I got more than I bargained for.

What Cpu do you have in it?

I had a similar board and if I remember correctly,

the row of jumpers at the left of the memory slots

select the kind of ram to be used, another jumper

select the correct voltage.

Check a manual, according to this,

https://theretroweb.com/motherboard/manual/p4 … 9b114618907.pdf

in page 14 you have the jumpers configuration for

the memory.

Don't know if it's the exact board though.

I don't have the big jumper, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to do exactly - it seems to just set which type of RAM is being used (SDR=off/DDR=on), but DDR still "works" without it. I can set the correct config of small jumper(3v)=on/big jumper=off for SDRAM, but that obviously still has issues, so I don't think it's related to jumpers. I've tried pretty much every config of 2 sticks, 1 stick in each slot, lower CAS, lower freq, SPD timings. No dice.

I might have left them they were a little more plain. They are copper and the card bends under its own weight. I don't like that at all.

Leave them on. You have a very good chance of ripping off a RAM chip when trying to remove since they are epoxied on there.

You can always add a support bar for the card if needed. You can even buy pre-made adjustable bars now instead of having to come up with something yourself.

I was going to say exactly this. It isn't worth the risk of damaging anything trying to take those off, especially since this was his personal card and he did the mods himself. If it was going to be sold as a 100% original collector's item it'd be almost justifiable, but even that isn't really worth it in my opinion.

Honestly, I'd consider it a huge PLUS that this has an NV Silencer and RAM heatsinks installed. I would expect this card to outlast a lot of stock Geforce4 Ti cards since the cooling on them was only barely adequate.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

I'd be replacing the caps. Does it get unusually warm around the vrms?

Bought a Panasonic TC-15M2RC 15" CRT TV for use with older game consoles and home computers. I found the boxy shape with that weird speaker "hat" oddly appealing. This thing has excellent selection of inputs: RGB, composite, S-video and of course analog TV tuner. Picture is still bright and vivid, and the built-in speaker is also quite decent for unit of this size.

I also got this. A way less desirable but still pretty cool Hercules Geforce 2 Ti

That card AFAIC is 10x more desirable than a Ti-4800 😁

How so? It's not the Ultra. The timeline is this:

- June 2000: Geforce 2 Ultra, GTS, Pro are released
- Feb 2001: Geforce 3 is released
- Oct 2001: Geforce 3 Ti 200, Geforce 3 Ti 500, and Geforce 2 Ti are released

Basically it is the entry level card to the Geforce 3 Ti line. Nvidia had a lot of leftover NV15s, and they rebranded the card for the new entry level line.
Don't get me wrong, it is a nice card, I love it. I prefer it to the Ultra because I don't have to worry about breaking it heh.
If you overclock it, it's identical to the Ultra. Like, +/-5 3DMark 2001 points.
I have a Chaintech GF2 Ti that is called "Geforce Titanium Ultra" because it has stock frequencies that are the same of the Ultra, but uses the new Geforce 2 Ti layout.
I consider it equivalent to the Ultra (can be overclocked much more than Ultra frequencies), but it's not the actual original Ultra nevertheless.
The Hercules however looks particularly cool, because of its distinctive look. I am happy that I have it, but I don't think it's more desirable/rare than a agp8x ti4600/ti4800 😜

In the pics:
Chaintech 2 Ti Ultra (with the ram heatsinks and Ultra frequencies),
and Chaintech 2 Ti (with Nvidia's recommended frequencies).

Thanks, it is indeed a full ti4800. And it works. Ran 3dmark 2001 for a while. No issue. Scored around 10k (cpu isn't great).

All of that is true. Which still makes it more desirable to me than a GeForce 4 card.
