This time i am looking towards my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 model

Specs:
CPU - Core i7 (I7-620M) @ 2.66ghz
Ram - 8gb DDR3
Graphics - Nvidia GeForce GT 330M @ 512mb
- Intel HD graphics @ 256mb
HDD - Samsung Evo 870 SSD - 1tb
Native OS Support - Snow Leopard 10.6.3 - High Sierra 10.13
- Windows XP (32-bit) - 8.1 (64-bit) (Bootcamp)

i am aware this is older hardware and looking for a linux distro that do a bit of light web browsing, retro gaming (real discs/steam/GOG) and generally mess about with.
i am also looking for a distro that has full driver support for this macbook

i have try linux mint 22 cinamon and latest LTS desktop version of Ubuntu 24.04.1

the latest Nvidia driver is dated 2019 and requires a kernel version 2.6.18 or newer but i could not get to install

Linux mint seems to run fine but not sure if it too new for it
LTS Ubuntu - does install and load to desktop but it freezes the whole system when really doing anything
