I have a computer with Windows XP on it and I am trying to find a program to get the sound working on my pc, but when I tried VDM Sound I got an error saying "Error while setting up enviornment for application.." Are the games I have incompatable or is it in the comp. or VDM itself? Can someone help me?

Please write down or take a screenshot of the full error message and post it. What you gave isn't enough information. The more info the better.

Just to be sure, you installed VDMSound from a file named
VDMSound-2.0.4-WinNT-i386.msi, right?

MY way to get this error 😉

Hi,
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe

Start the cmd.exe with "Run with VDMS" the one without "music note"!

All looks normal but, if you start a real DOS-program like "mem"
this error message appears! In an extra Error message box!
16-BIT-MS-DOS-Subsystem!
VDMSound 2.0.4 - DOS Prompt - mem
Error while setting up enviroment for application.. Click on Close to end the applicaton"
Two Buttons "Close" and "Ignore"

A screen shot does not help! I have the german XP 😉

The Dos enviroment of cmd.exe starts only if you run a real DOS-Program!

cmd.exe is a Win32 shell. command.com is the VDM.

Yes, it’s my fault.
