I'm dying to play this game but it won't load because of that "unable to load sound drivers for your type of card" error.
Is there any way to get past this so I can play?

What soundcard do have enabled in your DOSBox configuration?
When I run the game, I see "A Sound Blaster 2.0x, or compatible was detected", and the sound and voice play just fine.
It's saying sb16. I tried changing it to sb2 and it's still giving me that message and refusing to load the game.
Never heard of that game before. Care to elaborate? 😀

Ah, check your dosbox.conf, to make sure that sbtype=sb16.
That might solve your problem.
