Yes, you read that correctly. GR-lida is yet another frontend for DOSBox. Its uniqueness relies in that it can manage DOSBox, VDMSound and ScummVM games, regarded that those programs are installed in your system.

grlida1ha6.th.jpg

The frontend was written by Monthy, and the reason you haven't heard of it before it's probably that it was only available in Spanish. Until now, that is.

grlida2vo3.th.jpg

A few versions ago I volunteered to do an English translation, and also, because of Monthy's scarce knowledge of English, to spread the word in this message board.

So, how does this work?

1) Go to this URL and download ("Descargar") the Windows installer. That's the latest Windows version.

If you're a Linux user, just below the Windows version you can download the source code or Ubuntu / Debian packages.

2) Install the program, select English language if you wish.

3) When confronted with the Welcome screen, the one that asks wether you have DOSBox, ScummVM or VDMSound installed, choose English language again.

And that's it. If you start the program everything should be in English, as shown on the screenshots above.

Well, it's been a while. Does anybody want to comment on this program?

Looks quite solid. After a regular installation it was still spanish only though,
might be related to the localized xp home here (language during installation
was set to english).

Mmm... Did you unzip the translation where explained? Note that it must be downloaded separately.

If you already did that, press F2 and make sure the language is set as "English (UnitedStates)". Then restart the program.

Hm it wasn't that obvious to me that "GR-lida 0.3.0 Código fuente Cross Platform"
contains the translations 😀

Anyways, still doesn't work (extracted in the mentioned directory), got to test
this on a different pc.

Weird. Does at least the proper language show up when you press F2 inside GR-lida?

I'll contact the author ASAP, see if he knows what's not working properly.

Have any other users found themselves with this problem?

I've mentioned your issue to Monthy. He says the language file in the source code is not translated yet.

Until the next version is released, which will include translations, the only English language file available is the one that can be downloaded here.

Ok the file from cat6 works (maybe change that in your initial posting,
both links point to cat1, or i screwed up somewhere).
The needed file is gr-lida_en_EN.qm, not the one with the .ts extension
that i had from the archive.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've just corrected the first message.

I've had some more spare time and with Monthy's guidance (he's the author of the program) I've revised the English translation of the program. Some typos are gone, and sections that were previously untranslated, such as the first time setup dialog now are.

You can downloaded it right here, install instructions can are be found in the first message of this thread.

EDITED: This version of the translation is outdated, I've deleted it to avoid misunderstandings.

A new version of GR-lida is now available, v4.0.

Main updates are several bugfixes, an internal image viewer for covers / snapshots, the added function of sorting games by all values you can imagine and, finally, the English translation is now included in the package, so no more tweaking is needed in order to use the program in English, just select the English language file in the welcome screen.

You can download Windows and Debian / Ubuntu versions from its official website.

Hope you all enjoy it. 😁

I've been doing some cleanup in this thread. English translations no longer need to be installed separately, so I've edited outdated attachments / install instructions.

From now on the English translation of GR-lida will be included in the main package and the language can be configured from the Program Options dialog.
