I've been playing Kings Quest under Windows 3.1 and it sounds great. I wanted to buy the exact same soundcard for my computer that dosbox is emulating but there's a ton of different soundblaster16s on ebay.. can I get some help 😀

Hey 😀
Well I don't know exactly which soundblaster is emulated by dosbox but I think you should try the Soundblaster 16 CT4170 ... I still use this card with my old DOS-PC and it sounds wonderful ^^.
It's an 16-bit ISA-Card(if this info is necessary 😀 ).
I hope you can use this "help" =D .. have fun ^^

best regards
Vincent

If you want true OPL3 experience, a CT2800 is one of the better SB16 choices since it features the real thing in my opinion.

I had a SB16 ASP back when I was still using ISA sound cards.

Unfortunately, I don't know what difference (if any) there is between that and what DOSBox emulates.

DOSBox emulates a SB16 that works with as many games as possible 😉

If you intend to use a MIDI daughtercard, try to find out the DSP version of any card you're considering to see if it's one that has the "hanging note" issue, because DOSBox does NOT emulate that "feature". 😉
