since its an official ion storm patch I cant imagine the improvements were not included in the last patch 1.112f

Why did you relink the same article that I linked in my previous post?

Yeah I'm not saying the performance was terrible - certainly not sub 30fps. But it was slowing down in certain places and I expected it (based on the system requirements) to pump out a consistent 60fps.

It sounds like that's not a reasonable expectation with this game on a PIII, and I have no problem with that, I just wanted to make sure I'm getting the most out of the hardware. After refreshing the drivers, etc I can run the game happily @ 800x600 with 32bit colours and high detail, and I think that's about right.

What I should do is some proper bench marking because good performance is subjective and my modern PC is an i5, so I've been spoilt perhaps and am expecting too much. (is that a faux par around here, mentioning modern hardware?).

Thanks again all for your interest.

How can it be when this forum is called "very Old Games on New Systems"? 🤣

running the game on a new pc will give you the option of using the dx10 renderer
and also using hi res texture packs
some links
ps: some links for those wanting to replay dx1 (in case they haven't been posted already)

shifter, just makes the game better all round, makes exp gain a bit more RPG based.

new deus ex exe, community made, fixes issues on modern systems such as the game running way to fast.

DX10 render, make sure to read instruction here: http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/#niceties

New Vision

fixes menu and hirez stuff,

here is the very early demo of the model replacement,

everyone is wanting for that to finish, apparently animations in deus ex are very hard to do.

this could be interesting
http://dx-revision.com/web/news.php , they add extra parts to level's.

you will also be able to play at ultra high resolutions
I play at 5284x1050

Please for the love of god, either resize that pic, or just link to it instead. Its too large to be thread friendly 🤣.

As far as this game goes, I honestly had the same low fps issues with it too except when running on a Voodoo 5. A few years back when I had a Voodoo 4 laying around I should have tried it on that card too to see how it ran.

OK I'll keep an eye out for a voodoo, a quick look suggests that they're not going to be easy to find though.

I've added some pics for this machine (and a couple of others) in the retro rig photos thread.

Oh, they're easy enough to find, just that the prices can sometimes be a little on the high side.
