Turok glide only versions exist in only OEM versions (afaik one was for Voodoo Rush), and the early July 97 leak was glide only

The final retail version (Dec 97) was Glide, Direct3D, SGL and Rage Pro

i've played Turok in Rage Pro, you can expect blocky alphas, alphas that can't modulate color (white grenade smoke woo) or alpha (woo smoke clouds that don't fade away, including GUN smoke)

I remember Novalogic's Armoured Fist II displayed a message about MMX at the loading screen, when the CPU supported it.

The Allegro game programming library has an FBlend addon that uses MMX and SSE. I used it in my own game (HeroQuest).

Diamond Edge 3D (NV1):

3D Baseball
Absolute Zero
Daytona USA
Destruction Derby
Mixman - Spin Control
NASCAR Racing
Panzer Dragoon
US Navy Fighters
Virtua Cop
Virtua Fighter Remix

Did some research on each of these games. I think this list can be substantially cut down.

EDIT: See 3D Accelerated Games List (Proprietary APIs - No 3DFX/Direct3D) for updated list.

Isn't this list missing or uncomplete? I have never heard or found any information that Screamer is accelerated with the S3 Virge except in the press release. Those are notoriously on showing games that never get released or never surface with support. Press release who mentions Screamer, NHL97 and others: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/S3+Launches+S3d … d...-a018290559

S3 Virge native list that I know of:

- Actua Soccer bundled OEM (Part of S3D Game Pak along with Havoc and Terminal Velocity)
- Havoc bundled OEM (Part of S3D Game Pak along with Actua Soccer and Terminal Velocity)
- Battlerace
- Croc (ONLY 1.0 version)
- FX Fighter Turbo
- Tomb Raider (with patch)
- Descent II (with patch or OEM version)
- Destruction Derby (OEM version Windows 95 bundled with Diamond Stealth 2000)
- Mechwarrior II (homemade patch or OEM version)
- POD Gold
- Terminal Velocity (Patch)
- Time Warriors (Patch only polish?)
- Fatal Racing / Whiplash 3D S3D edition OEM

Unconfirmed:
- Terracide DEMO

Here are some screens from the Terracide demo, running in S3D mode. S3D mode doesn't have his own shortcut, it's accessed running the standard Terracide shortcut and then going to the graphics settings. The game would crash if you select S3D mode and you don't have a s3dtkw.dll file in either the game folder or your windows\system folder, so I guess it's really running in S3D mode ? The game felt like running between 10-15fps (640x480), on a Celeron 900Mhz system.

For the ATI Rage I think there is only these:
- Actua Soccer (OEM) - Semifinals edition
- Assault Rigs (OEM)
- Croc (Only 1.0 version)
- Formula 1 OEM
- Mechwarrior 2: ATI 3D Rage Edition (OEM)
- POD Gold
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 99
- Time Warriors
- Tomb Raider(patch)
- Turok
- Wipeout (OEM) - Some sources say this is a demo, some the whole game.

Unconfirmed:
- Terracide - Supposed to run in Direct3D, but has own shortcut to ATI Rage (along with PowerVR, Matrox Mystique and Rendition). Must be confirmed by someone, but could just be tweaking so that the game would run better in Direct3D mode on that particular card.

Did I miss any? Not counting wrapper games like Quake.

This is what I get too, except:
- HyperBlade (OEM) - there's a post on VOGONS somewhere that says this exists (this thread?)

These are rumored, can you debunk them?
- Heavy Gear (OEM?)
- Interstate '76

Did some research on each of these games. I think this list can be substantially cut down.

Confirmed list:
Battle Arena Toshinden - Confirmed. Retail release support. Screenshot: [ 1 ]
NASCAR Racing - Confirmed. Bundled with Diamond Edge 3D. Youtube video: [ 1 ] [ 2 ]
Panzer Dragoon - Confirmed. Bundled with Diamond Edge 3D. Youtube video: [ 1 ] [ 2 ]
Virtua Cop - Confirmed. Retail release support. Youtube video: [ Comparison NV1/Software ]
Virtua Fighter Remix - Confirmed. Bundled with Diamond Edge 3D. Youtube video: [ 1 ] [ 2 ]

The cutbacks:
3D Baseball - Game never released for Windows. PSX and Saturn only. Crystal Dynamics did mention this game in a Nvidia press release 12th of November 1995. Apparently this never materialized.

Absolute Zero - Again a game that was mentioned in the press release. I have searched through the retail CD and readme, with no mention of NV1 support. Internet also says nothing about NV1 support for this game beside in the press report. To put the final nail in the coffin, this game is not mentioned on Nvidias official NV1 site (archived).

Daytona USA - Listed on Nvidias NV1 site as a OEM / forthcoming title, but so is the Mechwarrior II version which never came out (see below for more details). Retail release do not have any mention of NV1 support. One person over at Assembler games mention this game running on the NV1, but he also speaks about Virtua Fighter 2 (which has to be VF: Remix). An explanation is that he could've mixed up Nascar Racing and Daytona USA.Also it is not bundled with the Diamond Edge 3D 3400, so either it came with the 2x00 versions, or early 3x00, or another OEM product which I have to ask you guys about? I can not confirm NV1 release, but I can't disregard it either, but chances are slim.

Destruction Derby - Diamond got a exclusive agreementwith the developer of this game Psygnosis to make ports for both the Diamond Stealth 2000 (S3 Virge) and Diamond Edge 3D. No information found if this version for the NV1 ever came out, but the S3 Virge version did. My guess is that Diamond cancelled the NV1 version when they figured out that the NV1 had no future.

Mixman - Spin Control - This is not a game, but a music program. Very hard to find any information. Is mentioned at the Nvidia NV1 site as a released title.

US Navy Fighters - Mentioned in the Nvidia press release as a game with upcoming support. I have checked the released CD and readme with no mention of NV1 support. Internet also has nothing on support. My guess is that the port was cancelled by EA.

Other possible games:
From this source I found this:

...already announced Tomcat Alley, Ecco the Dolphin, and Comix Zone. These titles will all be uniquely enhanced for the NV1 accelerator chip...

This caught my attention as those games are visible in the Diamond Edge 3D 3400 bundle on Assembler games forum. I know this user is also here on Vogons, maybe he can confirm whether these games really are accelerated or not?

Mechwarrior II NV1 version:
This version got cancelled during production. A very interesting interview with a programmer at Activision explains what happened.

Nice, so the list is like so?
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- NASCAR Racing (Papyrus)
- Panzer Dragoon (SEGA)
- Virtua Cop (SEGA)
- Virtua Fighter Remix (SEGA)
* Comix Zone (Need to verify)
* Daytona USA (SEGA) (Need to verify)
* Ecco the Dolphin (Need to verify)
* Mixman - Spin Control (Need to verify)
* Tomcat Alley (Need to verify)

where's that blueshogun guy to verify some of those...

BTW - API of NV1 was called NVLIB:

Creative Graphics Library (CGL) Games List

As far as I know only the Creative 3D Blaster VLB and PCI card supports CGL. I can not get CGL games to run on my Diamond Stealth II S220 card, and if they start they start in software mode. There are patches to some VLB games to make them run on the PCI card. Some of the patches is just a HOTCGL file (vritb170.cgl) that is placed in the gamefolder, so more VLB games might actually work on the PCI.

Actua Soccer - VLB release, PCI patch
Euro 96 - VLB release, PCI patch
Fatal Racing - retail release
Screamer II - patch
Screamer Rally - retail release
Whiplash - retail release
Battle Arena Toshinden - VLB retail release, patch for PCI

Also you have these:
Hi-Octane (probably only VLB)
Flight Unlimited (PCI and VLB (included on PCI's driver CD))
Nascar Racing (only VLB as far as I'm concerned)
Magic Carpet (probably only VLB)
Rebel Moon (PCI and VLB (included on PCI's driver CD))

This makes me wonder if robertmo's list for 3DLabs GLINT shouldn't be adjusted then to remove:
- Flight Unlimited
- Hi-Octane
- Magic Carpet Plus
- Nascar Racing
- Rebel Moon

Unless they existed for other 3DLabs cards (if there were any gamer cards?)

leaving:
Azrael's Tear
Cybersled
Magic's Ballz Out
for... what, exactly? The GLINT list is very confusing.

Azrael's Tear
Cybersled
Magic's Ballz Out

All of these games were mentioned in the press release by Creative when the card got announced in 1995 as part of the bundle. When the card finally got into retail these games were not included. Makes me think we have another "press release vanish", as we did with alot of other games to different 3D cards at the time.

The 3dlabs Glint and the Creative 3D Blaster is the same thing. It was 3Dlabs who made the Glint chip that sat on the Creative 3D Blaster cards. Makes more sense?

Much more sense - I thought there were other GLINT cards for gaming, but I guess I was thnking of Permedia.

Incidentally, there's only OpenGL and Direct3D for Permedia - yes, no proprietary API?

btw, I have the CD-ROM version of Nascar Racing and I can confirm it has CGL support. It also seems to be static as it's just it's own .exe file named creative.exe, there are no external .cgl files as with other CGL games. I get a "Unable to begin Creative 640x480 mode: Board not found" error on my Diamond rendition card when I try to run it. No patch was ever created specifically for the PCI version for this game. If it runs on the PCI or not I do not know, hopefully someone here with the card can test it out.

You can run older games designed for the original Virge on newer Virge cards (VX/DX/GX) by running them using the S3D PATCH Programm made by ELSA for the ELSA VICTORY 3DX card.

I know, and that tool works on the other games, but it is a DOS tool. Destruction Derby for the S3 is Windows 95, and whatever I try to do on my S3 Virge DX card I get a "Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 not detected" error. Seems to be some kind of BIOS check. Hopefully I'll get one soon.

Getting that card to test Destruction Derby won't be within the next week atleast. Had a bid for a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 2MB for 5 euro (which I think it's worth) after negociating with the seller to ship to my country. Then some idiot with Ebay bidding bot comes in and swoops it up 1 second before the auction ends. Pisses me off, don't understand why Ebay doesn't autoextend the auction when someone does that in the last second (and especially with some kind of bot program).

In hindsight I should maybe have set the max bid to 10 euro, but that is pushing it as I only need the card for one game. Since I can't beat the snipers, I'll have to join them.
