I have windows 8 64 bit.
I have original cd of the game:
Star wars race pod.

there is a way to run 16bit windows application on windows 64bit?

I search in the internet for the solution:
1. it say to run virtual machine for another old windows
2. download the game in nintendo64bit version, and run it on nintendo64bit simulator.

option 2 it obvious not for me, because i already have the original game.
option 1, it needed to have original cd key for another old windows that i don't have. I already buy windows 8, and i don't want to buy another just for this game.

can you help me?

Thanks,
Tal.

It's not a 16-bit game. It's just the Installshield that is.

You'll need to install it under a Virtual Machine and copy the content to the real machine. You'll also need the patch for the game or you'll have nothing but a white screen during the races.

The 3rd option seems even easier, just replace the setup program with a 32bit version

Replacing a setup on a CD-ROM is easy?

Copy all files from CD to hdd dir.
Copy setup32.exe to this dir.
Run setup32.exe.
Easy.

Unfortunately XP mode doesn't have 3d acceleration, so it's worthless for Racer.

XP Mode/Virtual PC might not have 3D acceleration for Windows XP, but VMware and VirtualBox do.

VirtualBox IIRC only has 3d acceleration for OpenGL, and its WineD3D wrapper only covers Direct3D 8 and up IIRC, IIRC, IIRC and IIRC, and Episode 1 Racer is a DirectX 6 game, and IIRC I don't know if Wined3d ahs some caps for table fog

as long as he can get it installed, he can run it in win8 (it works in win7x64)
