Platform:DOS
Hardware: 486-DX4-100, Creative Sound Blaster Pro 2, Roland MT-32
I had the Roland connected to a Sound Blaster Pro 2 CT1600 via game/joystick port and it WAS running great - I use no dos drivers and I have no jumper on JP4 JOYSTICK ENABLE.
I was curious to see how it would run through a Creative AWE 32 CT3670 and if there would be conflicts with the MPU-401.
I installed the appropriate drivers - CTCM etc and to my surprise I could choose Awe 32 or Roland MT-32 within games and it worked perfectly without conflict.
However.....as with the Sound Blaster 16-CT1740 in the Lands of Lore Intro there are occasional clicks when the speech starts. It clicks 2-3 times in the intro which I find annoying.Only the sound blaster pro does not do this.
I removed the Awe 32 drivers from config.sys and autoexec.bat and removed the card reverting back to the Sound Blaster Pro 2 CT1600 however now no matter what I do I cannot get the Roland MT-32 to run through the CT1600 Sound Blaster Pro 2 game port. Weather I have the JP4 JOYSTICK ENABLE jumper closed or open it will not use the port for music. The card itself will work and I can use it for speech and sound however no Roland Mt-32.
changing my autoexec.bat to set midi=synth:1 map:e or synth=2 does nothing also.
Its being very stubborn.
Any advice?
Also do you guys recommend a SBPRO2 CT1600, SB16 CT1740 or AWE 32 CT3670 for Dos games approximately 1985-1994.
