I think you should ask or get in touch with some of the developers. I also think they will thank any helping hand.

The source is GPL and freely available for checkout from the CVS at SourceForge. Any code modifications you make please post DIFFs to the Development forum and if you do work consistently enough I'm sure Qbix will add you to the team.
