Did you mount your CD? Also, you might want to try ScummVM for your LukasArts games.

I've encountered the exact same problem some time ago and decided to just leave it alone for the time being.

I'm also interested in how to problem solve for this error.

So yeah, I'll be watching this post too in hopes of a response. 😀

I got out my fate of atlantis cd to see if I could duplicate your error and had no luck at all. I tried running it from the cd, I copied the atlantis folder to my hard drive and mounted that, and I even tried just dragging and dropping atlantis.exe over the dosbox.exe. It worked flawlessly every time, with speech and everything. The only thing that I don't get is why you type "atlantis m a" because when I type "atlantis" the setup program runs. If you downloaded this game, there may be files missing that are causing your error.

I may be 6 years too late but I had this issue and resolved it.

All I had to do is go to the 'Atlantis' directory and copy and rename the MONSTER.SOG file to MONSTER.SOU.

Now it works fine with DOSBox

Hope this helps

If you've got a 'monster.sog' file, then it's a version that has been converted to play with ScummVM - the .sog extension indicates it's been compressed using OGG audio. It won't work with the dos executable. All the original dos games came with .sou files that contain uncompressed audio.

Guys just buy the steam version and be done with it 😀

That game deserves to be purchased.

Someone knows when i use the follow

CONFIG -SET machine any_value > nul
D:
ATLANTIS.EXE

with "any_value" i mean = hercules, cga, tandy, pcjr, ega, vgaonly, svga_s3, svga_et3000, svga_et4000, svga_paradise,vesa_nolfb, vesa_oldvbe.

why the game never start ?

That's is very stange for me because i had set that on the dosbox.conf but i had a lot of batchs scripts for multiples games, and change the configuration but if i just start with that, without use none other batch script the game never start

It seems your English went through the translator,
I was gonna explain why you should not necro a thread
but what would be the point 😁

Anyway:

C:\>CONFIG-SET cga
Illegal command: CONFIG-SET <--- problem 1: illegal command
When you redirect to 'nul' you don't see the error messages.
D: <----------- problem 2: you did not mount a cd-rom.

Windows try:

machine=svga_s3
mountimg d -t cdrom c:\path\to\atlantis.iso
mount d -t cdrom c:\path\to\atlantis\files
d:
atlantis.exe

This should work 😁

machine is not configurable on the fly. Only from the configuration file using the right section [dosbox]
