I have this question for you:

Can i use voodoo2 and voodoo3 together in the same pc with win98se?

because i have some games that work on my voodoo 3 and others games older that would work with a voodoo2

Here is a list of some my favorite games that I would play again:

Screamer2, ScreamerRally, Glquake, Motoracer, Descent 1,2,3, Hexen, Hexen II, Heretic, Heretic II, Test Drive 4, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 Arena etc....

if this is possible...how can I make them work together? which driver should I install? and in what way? how do I connect?

is complicated and I do not understand...

is there a way to install two copy of win98se (one with voodoo3 drivers) and a second (with voodoo 2 drivers) using the partition or in two hdd separately?

setting up 2 win98se installs will mean you'll need something like bootpart to switch between 2 active partitions.

yes i have read the thread, thanks for your info.

...if i try to install before win98 and then winME ? is a good solution? or many games (not dos) might not work?

maybe the best thing to do is to install the two drivers v2 and v3 in 98se, stop...

BUT : if I launch a dos game for voodoo2, how do I move the files into the directory of the game if there are already drivers v3 directory system? is impossible, the driver overwrites!

Help me, I'm confused

Voodoo3 drivers in \windows\system
Voodoo2 glide2x.dll (or glide3x.dll) in the directory of the game.
I use the same method with nGlide. If I need to test a game with nGlide - I just copy glide2x.dll/glide3x.dll to the gamedir.
By the way, if you need compatibility - you need Voodoo1, not Voodoo2.
And again - this solution may not work because Voodoo2 drivers are using the different fxmemmap.vxd. The Voodoo3 version may not initialize Voodoo2 card properly.

Asus P4P800 SE/Pentium4 3.2E/2 Gb DDR400B,
Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).
Voodoo2 12 MB SLI, Win2k drivers 1.02.00 (XpProSp3).

what configuration do you recommend for have more compatibility?

voodoo1 - voodoo 3 ?
voodoo1 - voodoo 5 ?
voodoo2 - voodoo 5 ?

this my favourite some games list

s2,sRally,glQuake, HL1,quake2,motoracer,descent2,ignition,requiem,tdu4,nfs2 etc..

only: glquake, hl1, quake2,descent2 work perfect on my voodoo3 the others have bug or texture problem using amigamerlin or official driver. same problems 😢

Look at the topic from vetz : Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

He made a list of all older glide games and how to make them run on voodoo2. on page 2 in the same topic he made a list of games that could also be made to work on a voodoo3.

Thanks to his effords i got screamer 2 and screamer rally to work on my v2 sli system AND my voodoo3 system. Normally i only played them on my voodoo1 machine, because these games would only work on voodoo1.

Using the right drivers with the right settings and the right game patches most glide games can be run with most voodoo cards.

If you want to use EVERY glide game in one system i would pick voodoo1 and voodoo5. Problem is, voodoo5 works great on fast systems and voodoo1 can have problems (not working) on pentiums above 450mhz.
On a 450mhz a voodoo5 is still usefull if you use AA, otherwise a v3 will do just as fine as that gets even bottlenecked by the cpu (maybe not so much at 1024x768).

Multiple systems is mostly the ultimate solution.....

asus tx97-e, 233mmx, voodoo1, s3 virge ,sb16
asus p5a, k6-3+ @ 550mhz, voodoo2 12mb sli, gf2 gts, awe32
asus p3b-f, p3-700, voodoo3 3500TV agp, awe64
asus tusl2-c, p3-S 1,4ghz, voodoo5 5500, live!
asus a7n8x DL, barton cpu, 6800ultra, Voodoo3 pci, audigy1

to dario82: You can use voodoo 1 + voodoo 2 + voodoo 3/5 in same PC, just install driver for voodoo 3/5 after 1 and 2. If you need to use Voodoo 1/2 for playing game just copy glide2x.dll/glide3x,dll + FXMEMMAP.VXD from voodoo 1/2 drivers to the game dir.

to meljor: My voodoo 1 works fine in my P3 800MHz PC.

Does it? Interesting.....which frontside bus cpu? And which brand voodoo1 and what mainboard do you use?

More people here said that the v1 doesn`t like fast systems or high fsb.

I have 5 voodoo1 cards which all work perfectly but NONE of them would work on a tualatin 1400mhz system. Not even when i clocked it at 66fsb-700mhz. This was on an Asus Tusl2-c board. They do work on a fast k6 system but not on the intel. Had this exact same problem with a voodoo rush on this system.

Should try my other boards but don`t have the time yet.

I don`t know why it is a problem with v1 as v2 can be used in any system.

I use CUBX-L board and P3 800MHz (100*8). But I have P3 800Mhz (133*6) and if you are interesting I cant test on it my voodoo`s.
My voodoo`s not working on SL-KAV75+Athlon XP 1800+.

Yes, please do test if you want.

I should test my bx board which has a 700mhz cpu (100fsb). Phil (on this forum) tested his bx board and he confirmed getting graphical errors around 500mhz with a v1.
Going much higher result in lockups, freezes, black screens etc. for a lot of people.

My cards black screened when starting any game on the tualatin system.

K6-3+ system works fine at 6x 100 so it is more about speed than fsb i guess because intel is faster, but quick celerons sometimes also work and they have a 66mhz fsb.

So please test, the more we know the more we can share....

Well, my Voodoo2 works perfectly with P4 3.2E (16x200 MHz). So I doubt the reason is FSB or CPU speed...

Yea past 400 MHz the V1 doesn't work very well. It does however depend on the game as well. Incoming and Expendable for example develop issues at past 400 MHz, other games go well beyond that.

I tetsted my Voodoo 1(Righteus 3D and Monster 3D) on CUBX-L + P3 800EB(133x6) and they are works perfect.

Try Incoming and Expendable. But yes, most games work, but not all of them.
