Is anyone watching this? http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemon

I would have expected someone else to say something by now. I mean I poke my head in every now and again. The whole process reminds me of the first Men In Black movie. Where J tells K; "The person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it!"

This picture album kinda illustrates the craze: http://imgur.com/gallery/LM9lc

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

You don't have to be 8 years old to like the Pokemon games. I'm 45 and I still get the old GB Color out for a game once in a while. I also have every YuGiOh game ever released for any console. Games like that aren't always as easy as they seem. Sometimes they require a great amount of thought before playing your next move.

I found myself leaving it as background and taking a look every now and then when the music changed or something, so I thought that displaying the stream on a TV would be more appropriate for that, but where's the fun on running HDMI from a tablet to an LCD TV when I can do it the old school analog way 🤣:

One of my spare P4 rigs playing the stream full-screen with a video card capable of composite TV-out, plugged into a small analog TV transmitter = Twitch Plays Pokemon on VHF channel 12 at any TV around the house (and maybe the neighbors' too).

Here it is on an old set I've been repairing/restoring recently, for that oldschool feel.

Eh, I don't feel inclined to discuss it on every forum I visit.

The fanart and commentary is totally what makes it worthwhile. I have very little inclination to actually join the chat and start spamming my own button presses.

I'm waiting when everyone gets bored of this novelty. There's also some "rng plays *game"" streams too and most of the motives seem to be for raking in the donors.

This also says something about watching actual people play games is that they're not as fascinating as some fuzzy logic. Is this what society has come to?

I did not have the impression anyone was making money off these things, except maybe Twitch (which I don't think I'd heard of before this).
