Just disable vsync at driver side for 3D benchmarks.
Average fps 840 😀
edit: With your settings (TnL) it seems to cap at 1500 fps.

Oh V-Sync is enabled by default? Interesting 😀

Well it has been added to the archive. Zipping it now and will upload it shortly and then create new threads for DOS, Windows 3.1 and 98.

Also changing my test bench back to a Slot 1 machine and will use a notebook HDD because the Microdrive is a bit slow 😀

Attached are BYTEMark from BYTE Magazine and Roy Longbottom's whetstone/dhrystone. For the 486/686 benchmarks, I ran byte32. Here is a good commentary about ByteMark written by Dr. B. Domanski.

What about AquaMark 3? (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=673 afaik you can't get it directly from the developer (since they no longer exist), but I've used the Guru3D mirror for years without issues). Will test DX9 and has fallbacks for older hardware, and is closer to a game time-demo than Futuremark is (and tends to be less biased IME than Futuremark). I'd expect very old hardware to score relatively poorly, but to it's merit/benefit it's still used as a benchmark utility today (and world-record scores are in the multiple hundreds of thousands currently - afaik as long as it's run from the "Basic" edition on the default settings scores are considered comparable across space/time).

There's also Rightmark's various benchmarks, specifically D3D Rightmark, and CPU Rightmark. I remember using D3D Rightmark years ago, but have never used CPU Rightmark (it appears to be more actively/recently updated though).

To make it easier for me please post working links and test it under W98. I will add everything that has been added recently and upload a new ZIP.

Is the Guru3D link non-working for you? 😢

As far as Rightmark - I didn't link to it because I haven't played around with it in a while; figured it was worth discussing but wasn't sure if it was worth including. 😊

Sorry if it came across a bit short, just really busy 😵

I dug out the proper W98 benchmark archive thread: W98 Benchmark Archive Thread

Will add Aquamark for sure. It's a good one.

No, not short at all. I was just afraid I'd put in a bad link or that it wouldn't allow hotlinking or something. 😊

Thanks, had to buy the discs (that came with PC Magazine) from Ebay as nobody had them in their collection. This is the only place you'll find those versions anywhere on the internet. Trust me I've searched.

There's also a DOS-Version of MDK-Benchmark. It's quite different from the MDK2-Bench, though, only some weird moving, fancy colored lines. It's mostly about CPU speed with a PPro200 marking "100", AFAIR. And it's predecessor, Shiny-Bench.

Then there's the X rolling demo (way before X²), which runs fine on early D3D cards.

And the Turok Benchmark. Has special dlls for several early 3D cards.

I think I've got early versions of Wintune (95?) and an HD Tach 2.7. What about Vulpine GL?

edit:
Ok, here's one. AFAIR the very first D3D Game - Hellbender:

Also I might recommend:
DroneZMark
Fog City
Wizmark and
Gun Metal Benchmark from:

and KribiBench from

Well the CF card I used to test these I must have wiped because the thread quietened down 🙁

So I'll have to (or someone else) revisit this again. But currently too busy with other projects 😵

Just had this idea...

We always get "fresh blood" and people building systems.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a ZIP file with an assortment of benchmarks and tools ready to go?

So to make it easier to document and compare systems without having to hunt down files on the Internet?

For DOS I have a nice collection I could put together, but for Windows 95/98 I'm finding it hard as I don't have much experience. If the benchmarks need something like .NET or similar runtime pack, I guess we have to include it as well.

Not sure if this is relevant for the thread, but Futuremark recently (~ 2 weeks ago) released the full versions of the following benchmarks for free:

3DMark06, 3DMark05, 3DMark03, 3DMark2001, 3DMark2000, 3DMark99
PCMark05, PCMark04, PCMark2002
Video2000 (never heard about that one)

Downloads here:
http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/legacy
I haven't found that mentioned on Vogons yet so I thought it might be interesting for some.

Yup!

I reported on this in my retro news 😊

It was me that asked Futuremark to make available keys for 99,2000 and 2001 SE. They didn't have keys initially 🤣

A community member made a key generator and produced the generic keys that are now on the website.
