My biggest regret is getting rid of my two old Windows 95/98/2000 PCs, 'cause now there is the odd game I can never play unless I have one, particularly FA Premier League Football Manager 99.

Is there any particular hotspot for getting an old PC? Preferably without hidden child porn.

I got a full working 486 for £3 on gumtree and a P3 500 for around £10 although the P3 was sold as working but was missing RAM (I would have upgraded anyway) The trick is to look for the cheaper PCs, say anything under £100 Most of these will either be scams or someone offloading their old PC

I've gotten Dos 6 Boxed from freecycle and a AMD machine (was just after the case) but as its free the scrappers/recyclers seem to be pretty quick to pick up anything

Well I'm sure but what specific search terms should I be using?

What kind of parts do you want? I generally search that specifically and then broaden based on the results I get.

Just a Windows 95 or 98 computer that isn't slow will do me.

That's far too vague and non-descript (and I can imagine why you're having problems now 😀). Qualifiers like "fast" and "slow" are too relativistic to even begin breaking down. You need to establish what applications you want/need to run, what kind of hardware those applications require, what operating system is required to support that hardware (and still support your applications), and then move from there.

Search on "Pentium 75", "Pentium 90", "Pentium 133", "Pentium 150", "Pentium 166", "Pentium 200", "Pentium 233" and "AMD K6". Buy an OEM desktop and you will be good to go. 😀

You're overanalysing or just being pedantic. Try and think about context when you're faced with situations like these. 😀

What applications would you need to run? Assume a computer game, due to the nature of the site, the usual need of an old computer, and that it is the most taxing thing for a computer to run.

What kind of hardware would those applications require? Something 1995 - 1999, because Win 95 or 98 is being asked for.

What kind of operating system is required? Gonna go out on a limb and say Windows 95 or 98, since that's what's being asked for.

I'm not having problems, that's just how you've perceived me based on presumption, which is nice.

Edit by Qbix: High quality answer, but it seems it was wasted on you. Good luck!

Could you give me a recapped short version of this post? Say, a few sentences? Is it on topic, dare I ask? 😀

I suspect you covered other areas in such a large post, but if you say so. 😜
